This My two-year-old Son Maxwell...

Maxwell is obsessed with Marvel Comic Characters...
As you can probably tell.
Spiderman is his first love...
Ironamn is his close second.
In this picture he is wearing his Spiderman Costume (this was well after Halloween)...
He is laying on his Spiderman bed...
with Ironman in his hand.

EVERY day Maxwell has to wear something with a SUPERHERO...
He has Shirts,
jackets,
sweatshirts,
underwear,
jammies,
wallets,
shoes...
I have to tell him that his jeans have Spidey webs on them for him to wear them...
We must own over 20 Spiderman figures...
and probably at least a dozen Ironman...

This was taken on Christmas on our way to Grandma's.

He wanted to be...
Zombie Spiderman for Halloween...

Marcus' friend Tony gave this poster to Maxwell...
One day after his bath he said...
"Daddy's friend Tony, Tony Stark gave that to me!"

This Saturday we are going to Wondercon in SF!
I can't wait to see his face!

Early Birthday Planning...

Ok so, Maxwell's 3rd birthday is September 11th...
To some this is early,
but I am SO busy at work that time of year that I don't have ANY time for a last minute party...
SOOO last year was baseball theme...

I am not a professional...
OBVIOUSLY!
LOL!
But I LOVE decorating cakes with fondant.

This year will be a superhero birthday...
My Maxwell has an obsession with Superheroes!

This is the attempt for this year...

A few modifications of course...

I have been SO inspired by all of the wonderful BLOGS out there!

Next craft... felt masks and capes for party favors...

Wordless Wednesday...not so much!

Ok, so this is my 82 year old grandma Theresa Kiyoko...

She is a 4'6" darling little Japanese woman...
Cute, isn't she!
This is her first time listening to music on an iPod!

My grandma,
when I was a little girl,
taught me ALL the girlie stuff!
She gave me a book called ...
"Glorify Yourself"...
It was a beauty book on everything ...
including keep a makeup kit under your bed...
wake up BEFORE your husband..
put on a fresh face of make up...
so that you ALWAYS look beautiful for him!
(I do not do this)
I believe this book was written by a man..LOL!
The book is worth browsing through...
but should not be taken seriously...
haha!

Anyways... my grandma also introduced me to "her" music...
taught me the two - step...
payed for all my dance and instramental lessons...
bought me a belly chain (in the early 90's)...
Oh, she even bought herself a belly chain...
to wear for my grandpa (not joking!)
bought me New Kids On The Block casette tapes...
(also in the 90's)
I hope for many more wonderful times with her...
Thanks grandma for everything! :)

xoxo

Cha ching! Another Priceless Moment

Another priceless moment...first library card ...$0

Strawberry Fields and Okazu

Okazu  A Japanese word meaning a dish to accompany rice.  This has nothing to do with strawberry fields, most would say but to me it does.  I believe that some memories accompany scents.  Growing up I will never forget, endless summers of picking and eating fresh strawberries out of the fields near our house and the smell of delicious Ocazu.  My grandfather, Shinobu, was a second generation strawberry farmer.  Today, I am honored and privileged to be a part of my family’s business that has survived four Generations.

This is my second year learning the family business.  Boy, did I strawberry shortcake it!  I thought, no problem!  I will have this job down in a year!  The first time I realized I knew nothing about the strawberry business was during my first week of work I asked... “Why are these plants stuck together?”  Little did I know!  They are called runners… they are suppose to be stuck together.   Well…this is my second year and I am still vigorously learning.  There are already bets going around on how long it will take me.  3 years some say… I hope 3 years at the least... Ok, here is a recipe for Ocazu:
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
Directions
1.     In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly brown; drain excess fat.
2.     Stir in green beans and about 1 cup water. Cover, and cook until beans are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
3.     Season with sugar and soy sauce, minced garlic and cook uncovered for 5 minutes.

Rainy Day Saturday Afternoon Crafting...Priceless

When I was a little girl, we had very little money, so toys were not something we received often.  Now that I am a mother, and I am able to provide my son with any toy he wants (which we do frequently)...it has gotten out of control...  SO out of control, that 1 - 2 times a week a new toy!  It was almost becoming expected of one of us to bring home a toy.  So...Saturday morning, while I was cleaning up after breakfast I almost threw away a large milk jug, then I thought NO, we are going to make something out of it...ROAR!!!

Milk jug                  $0
old scrap paper       $0
animal picnic plate   $0
elmers glue + water $0
gift bag stuffing        $0
= priceless
